Find Brazoria County Court Dates

A Brazoria County court schedule can come from a district court, a County Court at Law, a Justice of the Peace court, or a city court, so the right place to start is the court named on your notice, bond papers, citation, or filed case. The clerk for that court keeps the official calendar. You may also spot settings through a local court docket or a statewide search, though each has limits. Pair whatever you find online with a quick call to the clerk, court coordinator, or municipal court. That double check matters most when a hearing has moved or a portal shows no case at all.

How the Brazoria County Court Calendar Works

Start with the Brazoria County Odyssey Public Access portal. It keeps Case Records and Court Calendar in separate modules. Pick the calendar module and the right location. A calendar only lists settings. It is not the full record of filings and rulings. One case can carry many dates. Those run from arraignment and pretrial to motion hearing, docket call, trial, sentencing, or review.

Brazoria County runs five district courts and four County Courts at Law. It also has eight Justice of the Peace courts and many municipal courts. Their settings do not merge into one calendar. Odyssey lists JP4-1 and JP2-1 calendar modules by name. City courts may rely on a PDF docket, an archive, a web form, or a clerk confirmation. Search by court level first. Then confirm the date with the source that controls that calendar.

Brazoria County Odyssey Calendar Locations

The location picker is a small field with big consequences. A blank result may simply mean the wrong location was chosen. It does not mean the setting vanished. JP4-1 tells users to pick JP4-1 before opening its Court Calendar. The portal likewise splits Criminal Records, Civil, Family & Probate Case Records, and the calendars apart.

Odyssey also has a separate Jail Records module. Custody information and a judicial setting answer two different questions. Use the court calendar for the hearing and the case-record module for case history.

Brazoria County Court Date Lookups

Use every channel when the date matters. Online access is fast, but the clerk or coordinator can handle a moved setting or a court-specific instruction. An attorney of record may also hold the filed notice or scheduling order.

  1. Read the court name, court number, cause number, and setting type on the latest notice.
  2. Open Odyssey, choose the correct location, and search the Court Calendar or the matching case module.
  3. For eligible civil, family, or probate records, check re:SearchTX and open the Hearings tab or case detail.
  4. Call the responsible clerk or district court coordinator when the portal is blank, stale, or unclear.
  5. Ask the counter about the current calendar or printed docket if an in-person check is needed.
  6. For a city citation, contact the issuing municipal court rather than a county clerk.

The District Clerk handles district civil, family, and felony matters, while the County Clerk keeps county misdemeanor, county civil, and probate cases. Each JP clerk and municipal clerk maintains its own settings. Mail or email record requests can pull a notice or order, but they are a slow route for an urgent same-day date check.

Save the source and the time checked. Then confirm again before travel, since settings can change after a portal search.

Brazoria County District Court Coordinators

A court coordinator manages settings for the judge; the clerk maintains the filed record. Bring date and reset questions to the coordinator, and copy requests to the District Clerk. The county criminal page lists direct coordinator routes for each district court.

Per the Brazoria County District Courts page, defendants on bond and defense counsel should appear in person for criminal dockets unless the court allows remote appearance for a medical concern. A Zoom or Webex identifier is not permission to appear online.

Court Settings: What Each Field Means

Read the whole setting line. A date with no court or setting type attached can send you to the wrong room. It also leaves you with the wrong expectation. Municipal lists may show citation, name, status date and time, and offense. A district setting can also name the judge and cause number.

DateThe scheduled day, subject to a later reset or court order.
TimeThe docket-call or hearing time, which may not be the time evidence begins.
CourtroomThe assigned room, building, or approved remote forum.
Judge or courtThe numbered court that controls the setting.
Setting typeArraignment, pretrial, motion, docket call, trial, sentencing, or another event.
Cause numberThe case identifier used to verify the correct record.

A setting only shows that an event is scheduled. It does not prove the event happened or that the case ended. Check later entries and the signed order or judgment for what actually occurred.

Brazoria County Civil Trial Schedules

The 149th District Court page links civil trial schedules for 2026 and 2027. Those help you find trial weeks. But a case-specific docket-control order and later court notice stay more precise. A general trial schedule does not put every pending case on trial.

Older official Rules for Setting Civil Matters define local terms. Those terms still help you read a Brazoria County court schedule. Docket call selects a trial week. A docket-control order, often called a DCO, maps deadlines and settings. A Try or Dismiss docket may address an older case with no DCO. Contested ancillary motions go through the Civil Docket Coordinator. The rules are historical, so verify current practice with the assigned court.

Docket call
A scheduling event where a trial week may be chosen, not the trial itself.
DCO
A docket-control order that sets deadlines and events in a civil case.
Ancillary setting
A hearing on a motion or related issue before final trial.
Try or Dismiss
A docket used under the historical rules for certain older cases without a DCO.

When a Brazoria County Court Date Moves

A reset puts the matter on a new date. A continuance delays a hearing or trial by court action. A cancellation may remove a setting. But a missing online line does not prove the court cancelled it. Look for a new setting, a written order, or coordinator confirmation.

County Clerk guidance sets the rule for a County Court at Law date. Only the presiding judge can reset it. The historical district civil rules required written continuance motions and barred oral ones. One agreed pass was allowed in some civil settings before docket call. Current orders may differ. Follow the procedure of the assigned court. An agreement alone does not change the calendar.

Calendar check: Compare the newest portal entry with the latest filed notice or order, then call the court if the two conflict.

Brazoria County Municipal Court Dates

Each city runs its own calendar in Brazoria County. Pearland posts a Web Docket list plus a municipal record search. Alvin moved in-person dockets to a temporary annex in 2026 and lists hearings through its court search. Angleton holds Wednesday pre-hearings, with monthly jury and nonjury trial dockets. Lake Jackson takes a formal Court Date Request and confirms dates by phone. Freeport lists no online citation portal. Call the municipal clerk there for a court date.

Know which court holds your case before you search. A city traffic ticket stays with the municipal court that issued it, unless an appeal or transfer moves it. A county or precinct citation may sit in one of eight JP courts. The city name alone won't tell you which. Read the citation and its court number first. Then work through the Brazoria County traffic court record process.

Missed Settings and What Comes Next

Call the court named on the notice right away. Ask if the judge entered a failure-to-appear event. Ask about a warrant, bond action, or a new date. If counsel represents a party in the case, contact that lawyer as well. A docket line that vanished from the calendar proves nothing. Another clerk's office cannot fix it.

Missed a setting? A missed date can have serious case-specific consequences, and only the responsible court can confirm the current status.

Use the cause number when calling, follow the court's instructions, and seek advice from a licensed attorney if legal action is needed.

Angleton and Lake Jackson both post failure-to-appear warnings for municipal cases. Bond conditions can also apply to district criminal matters. What you should do depends on the court and the case, so a quick call to the right office beats any broad docket search.

Brazoria County Judicial Calendars Only

Not every calendar in Brazoria County is a court docket. The county also publishes government meeting calendars. The Commissioners Court calendar on Legistar lists meeting dates and agendas, not settings for criminal, civil, probate, family, JP, or municipal cases. For a hearing, go to Odyssey, the assigned court's page, the clerk, or a city court source. Once the date is in hand, a Brazoria County docket search can pull the case entries around that setting.

Label the source whenever you save a calendar item. Note whether it came from an Odyssey Court Calendar result, a court-specific trial schedule, a municipal Web Docket, or a filed notice, and note the date you checked. Each type answers a different question. A trial-week list shows the court's planned term. A case notice gives the setting for one cause. A municipal PDF may cover only a fixed date span. If two sources disagree, let the assigned court or coordinator settle it.
